Fun with school
Posted by: Bon-A-Boo
This week the girls and I went on a field trip up Big Cottonwood Canyon to go rock hunting. We had been learning about rocks, and the different ways they are formed. Last year we went to “Astro Camp”, where we learned about how rocks are formed, so I wanted to do more with that this year.

We drove up the canyon, and we’d stop along the way when we saw a good spot to collect rocks.
We had a great time! We found so many different colors of rocks, it was more like a treasure hunt then a field trip!
The girls weren’t the only ones getting excited about our finds too! I was really having a blast!

Then the kids and I got empty cereal boxes, and did some cutting, and pasting colored paper, and then ‘Vuala’…. a home made rock displaying box.
We glued the few rocks that we were able to classify and name, to the box, and then labeled them. They were So proud of their collection, and excited to show them off.

School is fun!
