Home school or not to home school, that is the question
Posted by: BonBon
So, I have done 2 and a half years of home schooling my girls. the 2 full years I have used K-12 curriculum, which has worked really well for our situation, the only issue I have with it is having to keep the attendance and having our schedual up to date for the K-12 records. Its nice to see my progress and to have goals to reach, but its a bit of a stress on me because I’m trying to get the school done before summer vacations start. I could simply have a year round school schedule, but it would be nice for us to have a nice long break. But we have been a bit behind because of misc things like Savannah’s surgery, other health issues either on my part or the girls. So, its taking longer this year to get the school done for summer.

These past few weeks its been SO stressful for me to school my girls for a variety of reasons, but the main reason is they have got “summer fever” and just cant sit down long enough to do school. And as I am getting after them for not doing what I ask they stand there and just giggle at me. So I feel I have no authority with them. So, its really a matter of the lack of respect they have shown me these past few weeks.

So, I’m on here to ask everyone’s opinions of “to home school or not to home school”.

The experience we had at our public school was not a good one at all! Savannah experienced lots of bullying and problems with the other children. And that alone is not an issue for most kids, but for Savannah it caused her to have anxiety attacks. But, one of the big reasons we pulled her out of kindergarten was she was not learning anything! The children in her class, most of them live in a home where English is a second language, so they had to hold the other kids back to get the rest of the class up to where the others were. And the following year I was talking to moms in my neighborhood, and they said the kids (now 1st graders) were still stuck learning their alphabet! And I just don’t agree with that! Holding back “average” kids or even “gifted” kids to get everyone on the same level.

So, anyway, please leave me feedback and give me your opinions.
I don’t care if its for public or home school, I just would like a ton of input!
